That's outrageous! Now they may be doing ok, but after awhile of them being killed, oops, here we go again. It really is frustrating to hear stuff like that.

Wolves are so cool, I love them! I can see where farmers would want to protect their cattle and stuff, but I don't see just shooting anything that moves. We have a big problem w/ deer and rabbits, the deer kill the trees and the rabbits eat the gardens. You can't just go out and shoot a deer, but I think you can a rabbit.

That is so sad! Bill and I are members of a group called "Defenders of the Wildlife". One of the reasons we signed on is because they were trying to get this kind of thing stopped! We can't do much from here except to send a check to help support their causes. If you're looking for great information on endangered wildlife, the current bans, what bans have been lifted and bans that ought to be made, they've got a great website for info. too. Here's a link to it, if anyone's interested: http://www.defenders.org They have an "Adopt a Wolf" program that is spectacular... well, you can read all about it at the site. We donated to that area too and received lots of cool stuff about wolves. Their magazine they send out, once you join, is chock full of information and I think has a lot more information then their website even!

It just breaks my heart when I hear things like this. Wolves are such social creatures! They have a structure that is amazingly similar to human families.

THANKS......I am going to check that out......I think that it is just horrible that they are doing this to the poor things.....i understand that they have to live too......they were here LONG before we were.....I just can't understand how anyone could stand there, look at that BEAUTIFUL creature......and shoot it......DISGUSTING......I grew up with a dad and many brothers who were hunters......and I just could never understand.....i also understand that sometimes, it is needed, for example, to control deer populations.....but still.....there are not that many wolves......so WHY????

Here's a link to what they've done to help restore Red Wovles, to NE N. Carolina (which is where we live). The Red Wolves were considered extinct in the wild, 20 years ago. : http://www.defenders.org/wildlife/wolf/redwolf.html

And some more info on different areas where they've instituted recovery programs: http://www.defenders.org/wildlife/new/wolvesgeneralinfo.html

Can ya tell I'm behind this orginization? {toothy}

What are the specifics of the wolf shooting laws? I missed this somewhere.

Here we go again with killing the wolves. I watched a program on the Discovery channel that dealt with wolves. They are a very loving society and they have rules that must be followed. I would like to ask why do some people think the only good wolf is a dead wolf? That makes me sick. My best friend had a full blooded wolf pup named Luna. She bred with a cocker spaniel and had the most beautiful puppies. With my family we all love the wolf. Me especially.I have many pictures and knicknacks of wolves both howling and not howling. I always thought that you could not kill an animal if it was on the endangered list. If this is the case then people who kill wolves should be held on trial.
