View Full Version : Losing My Temper!

Coming home from work the other night, I got stuck behind another driver who thought it was hilarious to drive 5 miles BELOW the 45 MPH speed limit. I looked and saw that he was a paralyzed/disabled driver. So, I did my best to remain calm. When we got to the 35 MPH zone and he dropped to 30 MPH, I couldn't take it anymore!!!! I laid on my horn. AAAUUGGHHH!!! Not, very nice, I know. Maybe he was paralyzed because of a driver like me, or from an accident he caused by driving too fast and now he's paranoid ....
Or maybe he's just an old guy who has had a stroke and refuses to give up driving even tho he shouldn't be....
Either way, what good did I do? I just looked like an even bigger idiot. Sheesh. I always regret losing my temper.

I get upset when people seem to not know how to drive. And it always seems like the pokies come out when I need to get to work and always end up being late! It no doubt did no good, as it never does for me either. But to me, it's one of those things I try to keep in the back of my head so maybe next time I won't get as angry. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Live and learn, right?

I used to keep my Christian fish on my own dash because frequently in traffic, I needed the reminder more than the other drivers. :)
If those other people could just drive as well as I do... ;)

MM, geesh - if there's one thing I know I lose my temper to easily over... it's bad or slow drivers! Aargh!

MM, I know how you felt. But after certain age, I cooled down. When I find myself behind a slowpoke like yours, I tell myself: “What will happen if you arrive one or two or even 10 minutes later? Relax. You often drive here and never look around. It’s beautiful here. Finally, you can see everything. Enjoy”

Keith, I prefer my Darwin fish ... lol {devil}
Nud, excellent point. We don't look around us often enough and notice the seasons changing in small ways or how pretty the houses are, etc. I think I was extra testy that morning because I was coming off nights and my eyes were closing on me ... I just wanted to get home and into bed.
Also gotta love those drivers who ride in the left hand passing lane and seem to be totally oblivious to the purpose of that lane. UGH!!!

Darwin? Who's Darwin? ;) Just kidding. He had some great ideas, but a fish with feet? Not a good one. It makes fishing more difficult. Just think about all those fish coming up out of the water at night to get revenge for all the sport fishing. Oh the humanity!
After we got 4 kids, I found my time in the car to be the only solitude I really ever had. I turned on talk radio and settled in for the drive. Even in the worst traffic, I could remind myself that this was my alone time and it helped calm me down.
Now I walk about 10 feet to my office. It's not much of a commute. :)

Boy, Keith, when you were 16, did you ever think that your one great solace/quiet time would be spent listening to talk radio? lol Funny how our tastes change over the years and with KIDS! Lucky you - working from home, hubby and I are pea green over here ... :)
