Hey everyone,
My oldest daughter and her friends are going to several "Halloween" parties. They are in the 21-23 age group. Being students of college and working they don't have alot of $ or time to get costumes together.
I told her I would post here and see if any of you have ever been to a party and seen or have had to come up with costumes of your own.
Again I stress it has to been verging on free. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated by them.

Oh darn CJ, I can't think of anything right off the bat, but I'll sure be trying to come up with something in the next couple of days. :)

This year I ws in the same bind - little $$ and little time to get it all together.
I have excavated many constumes from my grandparents basement over the years - old out of style clothes (hippie, old lady costume), my Uncle's uniform from when he served in Nam, and old baby stuff - buy cheapo PJs and dig up an old baby bottle or binky (also cheap if u have to buy) put hair up in pigtails, dot on freckles - INSTANT BABY!
Also, if they dig around at Goodwill or the Salvation Army, they are bound to find next to free stuff there that they can be creative with.
One year I was so desperate for a costume, I wrapped toilet paper around me and went as a mummy, lol! If you have any old sheets, you can get them all dusty/ dirty/ bloodstained and use that.
Felt is really cheap and can be sew quiclky into anything you want - don't forget tinfoil has a place in halloween gear too. (I was wonder woman soo many times with the help of tin foil!)
Hope you can use one of these old ideas, let us know what theu girls do -
AND tell them to BE safe- stick together, don't drink and drive! (I worked in the ER as a nurse for a few years :)
Have fun!

From your mouth to Gods ears. Thanks for the ideas I will share them with the girls. Right now they are leaning towards Steve and Karen the Crocodile man (the aussie guy from TV). They are going to wear their khaki shorts and shirt with knee high white socks and desert boots (I don't think they still call them that though). All they have to buy is the fake snake, small plastic croc to carry and some fake spiders to glue on their clothes. They will make little red dots for snake bites etc.
If you can think of anything they can do to add to this let us know.
Thanks again girls

Military Mom had some great ideas! I'd have never thought of using TP to do up a mummy thing! That's something I always thought would be neat to go as... hmmm... maybe I'll have some fun myself this year and surprise the neighbor kids when the trick or treat. Carrie, were you able to sit down at all? Our Halloween visitors are few and far between, so I don't know if I could stand up for too long.
CJ - I love the Crocodile Hunter. Danja! Danja! Danja! If you have a spare 1st aid kit, maybe they could add that to the outfit? Of course, they have to practice those Aussie Accents! I bet they'll have a blast, let us know how it goes will you? :)
