Well ok, not quite yet, but 2 of our snakes have laid eggs so far. Out of 10 eggs we have 6 good ones. The first one to lay eggs was her first time having eggs and they usually don't have many that stay good. So hopefully in about 3 months we'll have at least 6 baby snakes.

Gosh, I don't know much about snakes, must be interesting. What do you do with all the babies? Do you keep them all?

Some we will keep to breed and hopefully some we will be able to sell.

Kezzer,
How did you get interested in and started raising snakes? I'm not a big fan of the snake (in person) but I do find them very interesting to watch on the discovery channel. We had a really big Black snake in our garage this past weekend, my hubby killed it because we didn't want it to get in the house. we both get kinda "wigged out " when they come around the house.

As a teenager a few of my friends had snakes and I thought they were cool. Then I met my husband ad he liked snakes, and he ended up getting 2 baby corn snakes and that started it. Reptiles have just always seemed to be around us since then.

I played with snakes a lot as a kid, but I haven't messed around with any in a long time.

My husband candled the eggs tonight and we can see the babies move, we even saw a head and one eye of one!

Wow! How big are the eggs? Guess they are very fragile...sure is interesting. Are they cute when they are first born, how big are the snakes when the eggs actually hatch?

I messed around with snakes when I was a teen. It was mostly during the summer when I worked at a summer camp in east Texas. It is amazing that I never got bit by a copperhead or water moccasin.

Wow! Jim, you are lucky! I don't mess around with wild snakes.

raybeck, they are about 4-5 inches long and maybe 3 inches wide. They are adorable when they hatch, especially when they try to strike at almost everything that comes in contact with them. It's their only defense being so small. I am not exaclty sure how long they will be when they are born but I think probably between 8-10 inches or so. I'll have to remember to check one of our books and see. We've never bred ball pythons before, this is our first try! We used to do king snakes which are smaller.
