Do you leave extra when gratuity is included?

Question via email:When dining at nicer restaurants where gratuity is included in the check, should one leave an additional tip when leaving? It seems that leaving a tip when gratuity is included is redundant. Is there a general rule for this?

Answer:Tip = Gratuity, so there is no need to leave more unless you think that the amount they included was insufficient.
