Question via email:You have a very nice website, unfortunately I couldn't find anything about tipping a realtor. Is it appropriate to tip the real estate agent who is selling your house and if so, how much is acceptable?

Answer:Thanks for the feedback. You do not tip realtors. They make all of their money from the commission. The best thing you can do for a quality realtor is to ask for some business cards and give lots of referrals. My realtor is a longtime friend. He probably has sold another 20-30 homes because of my recommendations to friends who use him and then recommend him to their friends.
You had me wondering for a minute with the title of this thread. Most of the realtors I know make a great living.

Are you kidding me? Realtor are OVERPAID!! This profession is full of a bunch of corporate rejects or former house wives who take all your hard earned equity out of your home...because of a monopoly called the MLS system...Also, I saw on a USA today poll that realtors were just above telemarketers and used car salesman on what professional is the most trustworthy...

A. It says you don't tip realtors.
B. If you don't like what realtors are paid, sell your home yourself.
C. I have friends who are realtors, your characterizations are inaccurate.
