This is a subject that drives me crazy!!! And trust, me, I don't need any help!!!
Those stupid, annoying people who will sue over anything!!!! And what annoys me even more is the American Government, not only allows it, but they kind of encourage it, but making so they are most likely to win.
For example, that IDIOT a while back who spilled, I think it pop all over herself, when she picked it up by the top, and then she sued MCdonalds millions of dollars for it, claiming that it was their fault for not putting the lid on tight enough. Well it doesn't take a genius to know that those cups should not be picked up from the top!! And why does she need a million dollars to compensate for it? Was she wearing a million dollar suit? Did this experience emotionally scar her for life? It stupid!!! It was a damn thing of pop!!!!!! This scenario should of went like this:

*Woman drops the pop*
"Oh, opps," The women says
"Here, no problem, I'll get someone to clean that up," The employee says

There, and it should have ended right there!!!!! It should not have gone to court. WHY CAN'T THESE PEOPLE TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS??!!!!!!!! It plain, and simple, you make a mistake, you fix it, and take the blame for it, not, blame someone else for it, and sue that person!!!!!

Right on!

Actually I believe it was coffee and the fact that it was so hot that it gave her severe burns was another main issue. But, uh... did you expect the coffee to be cold?

Frivolous lawsuits are a shame, I agree but unfortunately there are too many people seeking the get rich quick way of life. I would rather scrape by week to week that have a scam on my conscience.

Aren't there alot of states than have a law against frivolous lawsuits now?

We really try to take care of our policyholders. When we mess up, we fess up and fix it. It's not that complicated with life insurance. I can't think of a single time where we've been sued that we actually did anything wrong. Usually it is people who want something for nothing. It is very frustrating as a Christian business owner who tries to treat his customers the way he would want to be treated.

http://www.wackywarnings.comA five-inch fishing lure which sports three steel hooks and cautions users that it is, "Harmful if swallowed," has been identified as one of the nation's wackiest warning labels in an annual contest sponsored by a consumer watchdog group.

The Wacky Warning Label Contest, now in it's seventh year, is conducted by Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch, M-LAW, to reveal how lawsuits, and fear of lawsuits, have prompted many manufacturers to issue warnings against even obvious misuses of consumer products.

The winning labels were selected from a list of M-LAW's finalists by listeners of the Dick Purtan show on Detroit radio station, WOMC-FM 104.3. The fishing lure warning actually placed fourth.

GRAND PRIZE The $500 grand prize for the wackiest label was awarded to Robert Brocone of Euclid, Ohio for a warning he found on a bottle of drain cleaner which says: "If you do not understand, or cannot read, all directions, cautions and warnings, do not use this product." Brocone also wins a copy of the book, "The Death of Common Sense," by Philip K. Howard, chairman of the legal reform group, Common Good. OTHER WINNERS.
The $250 second place award went to Alexander Tabarrok of Fairfax, Virginia for a label on a snow sled which says: "Beware: sled may develop high speed under certain snow conditions."

Third place and $100 goes to Bob Skowronek of Northville, Michigan who purchased a 12-inch-high storage rack for compact disks which warns: "Do not use as a ladder."

Fourth place, as mentioned above, went to the fishing lure, sent in by Melissa Cerrito, Atlantic Mine, Michigan, and

Fifth place goes to a smoke detector which warns: "Do not use the Silence Feature in emergency situations. It will not extinguish a fire," sent in by Bill Masterson, Ft. Myers, Florida

Well, you better hope a patent attorney or BMW doesn't notice that you are using a trademarked logo for your user icon. But I am sure you have permission or are quite possibly the owner of the Bavarian Motor Works.

What's your deal, justmehere?

Do you really think that BMW cares whether or not people LOVE BMW and use the logo for their icon on a forum? Grimey's not making any money. He's not selling BMW products. He just likes BMW.

Definitely. There's this girl who sits next to me at work that vomits when she's stressed or for almost any reason. Thankfully she doesn't do it in front of me. I warned her about that.

Speaking of people who sue for no reason -- http://www.indystar.com/articles/8/152515-7578-103.htmlIndiana drivers who get into wrecks with someone who is talking on a cell phone can forget about suing the phone's manufacturer.

The Indiana Court of Appeals on Friday dismissed an Evansville lawsuit in which Terry L. Williams tried to do just that after a March 2002 traffic crash.

Williams collided with Kellie Meagher, who was allegedly talking on a Cingular Wireless phone. In the lawsuit, Williams alleged Cingular knew -- or should have known -- that Meagher would use the phone wile driving.

Vanderburgh Superior Court Judge Mary Margaret Lloyd dismissed Cingular from the suit.

After the dismissal, Williams asked the judge to reconsider, citing new evidence that included a "Blondie" cartoon strip in which Blondie, while talking on a cell phone, caused an accident.

But the Evansville judge was unmoved. Now an appellate court also agrees that Cingular was not liable. You ought to be able to recover your legal expenses when someone sues you and you win. Think of all the money Cingular probably spent defending this malarkey.

That, that's a pretty stupid thing to sue over.

As far as recovering expenses from the other party goes, you can't really get into that too often because then you'll have poor people not wanting to sue rich corporations - when they legitimately have a beef - for fear that they'll lose the case and lose everything.

Kind of a lose-lose conundrum in our legal system there...

Why is it that there is such a difference between talking on a cell phone in a car, and talking to another person in the car? I have no problem doing either, but some people just space out when they have that little piece of plastic beside their ear. If that lawsuit would have gone through, you would have been able to make the argument that every restaurant with a drive through service, every make-up manufacturer, every cigarette company, etc. could be held liable for the use of their products while people are driving. These are all items that people use in the car constantly that distract them from focusing 100% on driving itself. Hmmm, if you think about it, can a passenger engaging the driver in conversation be held liable too?

I think the maker of the air conditioning condenser should be sued because the driver was adjusting the thermostat in his car when he hit me. I think the radio station should be sued because if they hadn't played such an annoying commercial, he wouldn't have changed stations while driving. In fact, I think the advertiser should be sued also.

Hey I wish I could sue... Hahaha I dont even know how. I went to chevron and the employee woman that was mopping the floor came up behind my 3 year old and started spanking him like 5 or 6 times and yelling at him not to steal. Gees he was asking me if Id buy him some cookies and I was at the time removing money from my purse. I called the police to get a police report and the police did not even show up and then I called the manager and told them to fire the lady and they never did. Lawyers laugh at me and when ever I revisit Chevron the lady kisses butt and tells me how much she likes my hair. What a turkey. I shoulda really got some money for that one but I dont understand the legal stuff. It was even on camera of her spanking my kid.

Can you believe that one!!!!

Back to using a cell phone in the car, here in the Uk it is now against the law to hold the phone and drive at the same time. The police are starting to get hotter on this and setting up traps like speed traps. I guess from your comments that this is not the case in the US. Do you think it should be law in the US as well? If you spend $20,000 on a car why not spend $50 on a car kit to make your driving a bit safer.

I think we need the following to make cars safer: Hands-free makeup so that women can finish putting on their makeup while driving safely.
Hands-free radios and CD drives so that I can change channels or CDs while driving.
Hands-free cereal bowls and spoons so that I can eat breakfast while driving.
Hands-free spanking so that I can discipline my children while driving.
Hands-free passengers so that I can carry on a conversation while driving.
Hands-free gum so that I can get a stick of gum while driving.
Hands-free coffee mugs so that I can drink coffee while driving.
Hands-free pedestrians while driving.
There was a study a year or two ago that said the single-biggest distraction that caused accidents while driving was drivers looking at pedestrians.

The same people who can't drive and talk on their cell-phone at the same time, are the same people who are distracted by everything else and are going to cause accidents anyway. I never understood what the big difference was between talking to someone in the car with you and talking on the phone, other than holding the thing. At least then you don't have to take your eyes off the road to make eye contact with the person. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive. You should have seen what it was like here after the hurricanes when all the power is out and the stop-lights don't work. I thought it was common knowledge that all intersections that have the light out become 4 way stops and everyone takes turns. If you didn't know that beforehand, they were reminding everyone enough on the news and radio. You wouldn't believe how many times I or someone around me almost got hit by people just blowing through the intersection without stopping, while everyone else is taking turns according to protocol. Those are the kind of people that bring me close to 'road rage.'
