Question:wondering about hair tipping--what's reasonable? and what about when the hair job is soooo expensive anyway! is it really 10 or 15%?? 20%? It kills me when my bill is already, like, 120.00

Answer:Thanks for the excellent question.
The tipping amount is really whatever you want, but if you want to follow what is considered proper tipping etiquette, the percentages don't change because of the price. Of course, you can always go on the lower end of 10-20%. If you are going to go to a more expensive salon, then it's assumed that you can afford $120 plus tip. If it is really a big crunch for you, then I would recommend finding a salon that is more in your budget.
My wife and I lead a series on financial stewardship, basically living within your means. You can get great material at: http://www.crown.org/. They produce the material that we teach. There's no shame in figuring out that $132-144 is a bit much for hair. It bothers my wife too, but she has a budget set up for it and does it anyhow. She just spends less on other things like Starbucks.
Thanks for the question!
