How do you hand someone a tip? It seem garish to just hand them a folded bill in front of everyone! Any advice?

The service industry's income is derived from gratuities. It isn't a shameful secret. What's inappropriate is to flash your money around and try to make sure that everyone knows you are a big tipper. Handing it to the person discreetly the way you do is perfect.

If you don't give a tip then some of the waiters and waitresses who get payed on tips may not exactly have the next house payment. I have a friend who is hired by a sonic and they work for low wages but get to keep all tips.
