Grrr, Work...

For my place of employment, Monday was not considered a "holiday" persay in the fact that we got the day off, but we have to work this Saturday to make up the day. Anyone else have to do that? That really stinks... {mad} {mad} {mad}

I came into work today and found out that because we are going to be using a new computer system and have to enter inventory at the end of the month, that the 4th of July holiday has been changed. We now will get Friday the 2nd off instead of Monday the 5th. This place is getting ridiculous.

That sounds rather weird, I'd say! AND borderline illegal, don't ya think? They can't just go around changing holiday to suit their needs!

Speaking of strange days off... us government peoples get tomorrow off? Because of Reagan's death? Huh? I don't understand that. Ex-President dies so we mourn by getting no mail??? {confused}

Florida is a right to work state, so basically no unions and they kind of do what they want. We're amidst a hectic reorganization globally at our company and you have to take some of this stuff in stride, but its really taking a toll on the people that work on the production floor. I'm an engineer, so I'm used to working long and off hours, but not everyone is working well with everything going on.

Companies can set whatever holidays they want. They are not required to recognize any day of the year. They won't keep many employees if they do that, but they can.
