I work at a fast food place, and I work my butt off cleaning various parts of the restaurant as well as cooking food, and I hate people who go through the drive-thru. I try hard to make the place nice, and then people just drive right through and order stuff. It's like they're saying "Your food's alright, but your eating facilities aren't good enough for us." I know some people are in a hurry, but they could at least come into the restaurant and then order their food to go.
Feel free to comment.

You'd like me. I hate taking food home. I like it hot off the griddle.

If people stay out of the restaurant and use the drive through, then its easier to keep the inside clean since the customers aren't tracking dirt in. If everyone who used the drive through came inside to order and eat, then you'd have to do even more work to keep it clean.
My philosophy has always been fast food should be fast, and the drive through is usually the fastest way for me to get food and get going. Usually when I want to sit down inside a restaurant and eat I skip the fast food places and try to eat someplace a little more healthy.

The only thing that gets me about drive throughs are those folks who will go to the drive through for an 8 course meal. I mean they have upteen gillion people in their vehicle and every person orders 3 to 4 things. UUUUUUgggggghhhhhhh!!!!! What turned into a quick 3 minute order is now taking you 20 minutes thanks to those who don't understand what the word convenience means. If you have to order more than one meal call ahead. Come on speed it up folks, in a hurry here. Can you all hear my horn honkin???? *L*
Go in already and sit like normal folks and eat that stuff. Save the drive through for convenience sake and those of us who just want a coke or a quick meal for one. It is suppose to be faster than going in and at our McDonalds, if you want it fast, you had best park your car and go in to order.
No offense Oncebyten but I loved taking my kiddos to eat at places like McDonalds or Burger King. Let em play while they eat. I mean anyplace with a drive through is usually set up to handle a few rowdy kids. Mine never totally demolished a Dairy Queen, or Micky D's. A little noise never hurt anyone and if you go to one of these fast food joints for a quiet, peaceful meal you are delusional to say the least.

Ditto on the people who try to order 8-course meals at the drive-thru. When I go it is usually just me and I always get stuck behind a van. What bugged me the most when I worked the drive-thru years ago was that I had someone at the speaker and somebody at the window demanding my attention at the same time. It was like "Hello? You are not my only customer. Wait your turn.". I decided to continue my conversation with the person at the speaker and briefly ignore the person at the window who had begun to lean out of their car and bang on the window. I mean they already had their change and their food- what in the world else could they want? After I looked at them and mouthed "wait a minute" they drove off in a 1957 snit.

Well I have new drive thru experience. I went through sunday morning at our local McDonalds for coffee and sausage/biscuit. One of my 15 year olds friends was working the window that takes your money only. My bill came to 3.02 so I gave the young lady 5.02. She looked at her register, then me, then back at her register. She opened her window leaned out and said," I owe you 2 dollars right?"
Why are we dumbing down our youth?

HMMM, not sure how her register was set up, but if she would have actually used it, it would have told her that she owed you 2 bucks in change...argorama. LOL

As to the girl who couldn't figure out the right amount of change- if someone behind you had already ordered before your money is taken then the calculator on the register would be useless since they can't go back. At least that's how they were set up 10 years ago. However... Good Lord, she should have been able to figure that out. It always amazed me how many of my co-workers were in the advanced math classes like Calculus and Trig, but yet could never count out change. As for me, I could count out change and I am hopeless at any kind of Math! I just find that very ironic.

I don't have a problem with my daughters and our school system. They are all making excellent grades and are rather nice to carry on conversations with. What makes me angry about seeing a young person who hasn't learned a thing, (which that kind of math should have be learned in elementary school) is that it reflects on their own ambition and their family life. I can say that because this young lady I have known since kindergarten. I called her by name as I said my thank you's. I know her mother and step father. They don't care if she does nothing more with her life than try to give change at the window or have whole houseful of babies. But that is where I live and sad to say it is still the mentality of the hispanic race here. Girls should not worry about getting an education. You see that attitude all the time and when you watch them in the community you can tell they are not learning a thing. The rare young woman is the one who has a family that expects more. We have had one hispanic female valedictorian. I am going way back to when my own mother graduated from the same high school. There should be more this day and age because they are the majority in our school system. {offtop}
Had to vent!!
