IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL TITLED "LET'S WATCH TV"
DO NOT OPEN IT. IT WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD
DRIVE. THIS INFORMATION WAS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY
MORNING FROM IBM; AOL STATES THAT "KALI" IS A
VERY DANGEROUS VIRUS, MUCH WORSE THAN "MELISSA,"
AND THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR IT AT THIS TIME. SOME
VERY SICK INDIVIDUAL HAS SUCCEEDED IN USING THE
REFORMAT FUNCTION FROM NORTON UTILITIES CAUSING IT TO
COMPLETELY ERASE ALL DOCUMENTS ON THE HARD DRIVE. IT
HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO WORK WITH NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR AND
MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER. IT DESTROYS MACINTOSH
AND IBM COMPATIBLE COMPUTERS. THIS IS A NEW, VERY
MALICIOUS VIRUS AND NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT.

It's a hoax. Don't feel bad... these buggers get to me too. Doesn't it just tick you off?

Here's a place to find info on it:
http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/hoaxes/hoax.asp

Here's basically what they say:

Hoax Name: KALI and Lets Watch TV Hoax
Description: A hoax email pretending to be an official virus alert from IBM is circulating on the Internet. According to this hoax, 'KALI' is a dangerous virus that destroys computers and has no cure. This virus is apparently received via an email titled 'Lets watch TV.' This information is false and Trend urges all email users to not propagate this hoax.

The general rule about virus alerts is ignore them if you get them by email. If you are wondering about a virus, go to Symantec Antivirus Research Center (sarc.com) (http://www.sarc.com/)

Oh, I wasn't aware there was a general rule about virus'...sorry.

Also, I want all of you to know that I cut and pasted this from an email...I wasn't yelling at any of you.

It's not a FrappyDoo! rule, but a computing rule. Don't believe anything you read in email.

I got a virus alert in email and forwarded to my friend who works at Microsoft. That's when I learned the rule. Almost everybody learns it the hard way. Let's leave the thread around so that others can learn from Karen's and my mistakes.

Yep, I've done the same thing. We live and learn, share our experiences so others don't do the same. That's the good side of it. :)
