Having a website is interesting, to say the least. A lot of things can go wrong. Your server, the computer that has the website, can go down. A router, the device that lets people get to your site, can go down. And then, there are times when I am having trouble with my internet connection. I'll think my site is having problems, when in reality it is my laptop's connection to the internet.
The Internet in general can be weird this way. I was just in the middle of an online chat with my sister on AIM, and I lost my connection. I went to check my cable modem, and it wasn't the internet connection that was lost; it was the AOL connection. Arrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh.

BTW, it came back up just a second ago. Weird.

We've just had this computer since late May. You don't even want to get me started. heh heh... I could tell you horror stories about living in a little town of less then 2,000 people and what kind of internet provider you get when you live at least 30 miles from the nearest "big" city.
*shakes head*
You don't want to know.

Yesterday, I get a call from my dad. He says that if he puts his laptop in his docking station, neither the mouse nor the touchpad work. I told him to try a bunch of different things, and then our PC manager gave it a shot. He ended up using it without the docking station.
I came in this morning, plugged it all back in, and it worked for me. Aaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh.

I have a hosted a web-site for 3 years and I know exactly what your saying. Sometimes these days are just plain frustrading!!!
But... it is also loads of fun, which out-weighs that stuff :).
Computers are great aren't they?!?!
Personally I have burnt document all over the place...some of the more important are backed three or four times. These computers crash so often...lol...so it's our fault for goofing with them, but still I am prepared...:D

I would love to do my own website, but not until I get a brand new computer. This one loses connection, freezes, does things on it's own, etc....I'm sure you all can relate.
I noticed one thing...after I downloaded Napster, my computer began starting all by itself! Everytime I shut off AOL, I would start to walk away and it would start AOL again! It was driving me crazy.
Computers are very moody!

Karen, after I downloaded Napster, whenever I turn on the puter it wants to dial up the internet on it's own. So I had tp take it off of autodial. How annoying. I wonder what will happen if I delete Napster, Maybe it will blow up?! :)

yeah, that's exactly what happens to mine...I am not positive of this, but I think you have to uninstall Napster....not just delete it. I could be wrong though!

I love running websites - it's the thrill of success - which hasn't come yet, but I think will shortly. :) It's getting to see an idea you have at 11PM laying in bed turn into a website which people visit and wonder how they had ever done without it!
I'm working on roughly 4 or 5 sites right now - hopefully they'll all be worthwhile! :)

I don't really have to worry much.....If Karen can't fix it...then it probably can't be fixed at all.
Beezwax - what a lovely show of trust!
We have 3 computers now... all connected by a network - that's asking for trouble, isn't it? :)
Luckily we have a good friend who's a computer wiz. He's in charge of general maintainance and he's doing a good job!
We had a rough beginning setting them up - one of the components was faulty and we couldn't tell which one. It took a lot of tests and trying to work without the different components (or replacing them between the comps), until we (well, okay... he :)) figured it out.
I'm pretty satisfied with our internet connection most of the time (though Alpha may disagree :D).
