HAve you ever noticed a different personality in each of your pets? I didn't until this summer when my cat was preggers. I couldn't believe how much hers had changed. She never used to be a very friendly cat, but that all changed. She became a big baby! When she was in labor, if I wasn't in the room with her she would walk out and mew at me until I came back in an layed next to her. My other cat is just a big baby usually, but he is very moody. He wouldn't talk to us for the longest time after the kittens were born. He's got a jealousy complex. The kitten we kept is convinced he's a dog! My iguana puts up a big front but once you start petting him he's a big baby. I've always loved animals but I never saw that they had personalities. Now when I think of all the animals I've had over the years I can now see each of their own distinct personalities. What kind of personalities do your pets have?
Oh Yeah!!! Py definatley has a personality of her own. She's a crack up! We used to joke that if Y2K wiped out all means of communication and entertainment, we'd still have her. As big as she is, she dosen't bark. She huffs. :) We've been trying to teach her to talk, it's starting to work. If you leave the shower door open, she's in there before you can hollar at her to get out. She will sit and howl till someone showers her - she won't budge till she's clean. She makes a mad dash for the tub when we get back from a camping trip or something. :) She's quite smart and I don't think she knows she's actually a dog. She's only a year older than my daughter so I think she figures she's a person. :)
BUT, wanna hear what I found out about Dex, our horse? He plays fetch! My nephew was out in the field throwing a stick and Dex started bringing it back to him - every time! I was floored! He must think he's a dog or something. He's got a nasty attitude lately so this was a nice change of heart. Think I'll go play fetch with him later this afternoon too. :)
Our arrabian is my favorite horse though. He will only let me near him. He dosen't like anyone else. :) All our animals have personalities. Even the cows we had did. The turkeys used to chase Wyatt arround and peck at him - they were irritating. It was a game for them. They were bigger than he was then. :)

Oh definitely! Each and every pet I've ever had, has displayed a distinct personality. Uhm, I won't go into a whole lot of detail, cuz it would take to long, but here's a quick rundown of the nicknames we've given them for their distinct trademark personality trait. :)
Blizzard: The spaz! She's full of energy and gets extremely hyper when you pet her.
Barro: The baby! He's such a big baby about things, very timid.
Butter: The love sponge! We started calling her that even before we got her from the neighbors. She'd sit for hour upon hour, if your arm could keep up with petting her.
Hockey: The old man! He's very "strict" about who and how the other dogs play with him. He has his own buddies and pretty much sticks to them.
Dallas: The grump! & El'Porko are his nicknames... he's overweight because of medicine he's on. He's grumpy towards the other dogs... but loves us to pieces. He's also the most "talkative" of the bunch, he'll sit there and make noisies at you if you stare at him or answer you back, everytime you correct him. Kind of grunts back at ya and has to get the last grunt in at that.
Miami: The doofus dog or bonehead! Those pretty much tell you what his personality is. He's a BIG dog, doesn't realize it and it can get painful to be around him. {toothy} He doesn't have a mean bone in his body though, just thinks he's still the size of a puppy.
Pook: The mama hen! Everytime we bring in strays, we keep them in a seperate room, until they get a clean bill of health from the vets. Him and Miami (but more often Pook) will guard the hallway or lay outside the door of the room the stray is in. They keep the other dogs and cats away from the room. For some reason our cats love Pook to pieces, they'll come up and rub their heads up against him, love on him. He always looks sooo confused when they do that. {toothy}
Pumpkin: Daddy's girl! She's spoiled rotten, thinks the sun rises and sets with Bill. I call her "the tick" cuz she sticks to him like glue. ;)
uh, I'm going to have to do the cats in a seperate post. Running out of time over here.

Lisa, Py sounds like an absolute treasure!! How she gets in the shower and howls just cracks me up! I wish we had a way of seeing that, it sounds hilarious! {toothy}
I have NEVER heard of a horse doing that! There's a lot of horses around here, so of course lots of horse stories. Nope, think you definitely have an original there. How cute that must be to see the horse trotting back with the stick. A horse that plays fetch... there's commercial material in there somewhere! :)
Okay, gotta share this one! Last nite we had some strong winds and in this house - the wind blows almost right through. It sounds like a mac truck running into the side of the house. Anyway, Py can handle rain, lightning and thunder even. But wind? NO WAY! When I went to bed, she crawled up in bed with me. She was terrified! Finally she went to sleep but then I had to kick her off the bed, she's too big. After that, she slept on the floor as close to the bed without actually being under it as she could. Problem is that she was sleeping on Wyatt's sleeping bag (he still dosen't sleep through the night so we have a sleeping bag on our floor for him) so when he came down she had to move again. After that she just paced all nite. Poor silly girl! When I woke up this morning she looked wasted! Now she's snoozing by the fire. :) What a baby!

Awww, the poor baby! That's so awful when something scares them... makes you feel helpless because you can't explain that it won't hurt them. Pook's the same way about thunderstorms. He gets so bad though, that we actually have to sedate him because the vet and I both are afraid he's going to end up having a heart attack.
Does she shake real bad?

My grandmother had a dog afraid of thunderstorms too. She'd run and hide in the basement usually, but sometimes she'd get out and they'd always find her running the highway. Boy, she was really lucky she never got hit.

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats!
D.O.G. = that's my dog's name...she's soo cute!! She's golden and very sweet! We got her in the pound...so at first she was very scared of everything. She was going to be put to death and she had been beaten by her previous owner. She's such a sweetie.
Zero = Black lab & something else. He's crazy!! He LOVES the pool. That's his favorite hobby. He barks at it and splahes it...it's too cute for words. We also saved him from death..he had been at the pound forever...everyone wanted "small" dogs. He's soo sweet. He loves my mom...except at night...he has to sleep with me!! LOL!
Butterscotch = golden cat! Little boy is funny. Doesn't like the outside too much. Sleeps a bunch. Is about a year old and still looks like a kitten. He also thinks that D.O.G. is the mom.
Licorice = black cat. Little girl...like her brother (butterscotch) thinks that the dogs are her parents. She loves the outside. She always sleeps with me every night! Along with Zero. (little to no room left for me to sleep)
I love my pets!! They are so cute. 2 are golden and 2 are black. It's weird how that happened. I thank God for them everyday!

I have a furry black kitten named Artemis. She's spoiled rotten to the core.. I was even inspired by her to name my site "Pawsitronic" :) She definitely has a PURRsonality of her own. Every night she crawls in bed with me, but not just anywhere. She has to sleep under my chin, on my stomach or on my back! She has also been trained to give "kisses" . Point to your cheek and blow her a kiss and she'll nuzzle you. Awwwww :D
I also have a dog named Bandit who is a husky/german shepherd mix. She's the most comical dog I've ever owned.. got her from the pound and she's soooo lovable. As big as she is, she'll shake your hand and lay across your lap like a big baby. She'll also "give you five".
