Baby Scorpions

My hubby bought a scorpion a few weeks back and he kept thinking she was preggers cuz she was practically bursting at the seems. Well today we looked at her and she had a bunch of little babies riding on her back! They are sooo cool when they are born! They are white! Their shells are starting to harden though so now they are greyish. but they're only about {.......} big as opposed to an adult which is about {..........................................................................................} big. That's including the tail of course.

Oh that is sooo neat! What are you going to do with the babies when they get bigger? What kind of scorpions are they? Do the babies need special food, or does the mom feed them somehow? Congratulations to the momma! :)

I'm not sure what he's going to do with them. Knowing him as well as I do he'll probably keep them, all of them! The mother feeds them for now, they'll start eating on their own in about a month or so.

That's pretty cool! I would want them out of my hous though...they are sort of creepy if you know what I mean! I'm a scorpian in my sign...but that's about as close as I will get to being a scorpian!

EEk! They were a little hard to make out...but I got the point quite well! And they still scare me!

Yoda!! AAAAH! He's sooo cute Kezzer! He still has that big head I see. {toothy} That picture named "YodaKitty" and "Yawn" are adorable! He looks like he has quite the character... is he goofy? Oooh, I just want to pick him up and love on him!! :)

Those baby scorpions are hard to see, but wow... is that mom scorpion as big as she looks? Or is it just the photo? She looks like she's 5 or 6 inches long in that picture! Do any of the babies ever fall off? Wonder what she feeds them?

Yeah I saw how big the mom was! She looked huge....reminds me of something from an "Indiana Jones" movie! Those are such cool movies A little too creepy for me! But the cat was sooo cute! :)

Yoda is as goofy as he looks!! I don't think the babies fall off, they'll eat pieses of chewed up crickets the mom feeds them. And she really is about that big. Probably about 5 inches. with her tail down she's about 7-8.

you told me she might be pregnant, but I never heard if it was so. that's great.
Was it the Emperor Scorp. that had them?
I wish mine would have some cool little babies.
Maybe I'll go and get another one so we can have some too!
How many did she have?
and about how long was gestation?

She had about 20 babies or so. We're not sure exactly how long the gestation was, since she was pregnant when we got her and we can't remember exactly when we got her. She's an African Flat Rock Scorpion. I really wanted a picture of them when they were white, but we didn't see that they had been born until a few hours later, after their exoskellaton started to harded.

Now my hubby's other scorpion had babies! We didn't even realize she was pregnant! Well at least we aren't overloaded with them! My hubby traded the last bunch in for a spider. I wonder what he'll get with these ones!
