Just found out our neighbors moved out this weekend... along with a brand new 20' aluminum extension ladder we lent them. A pool vacuum hose, the extension pole and vacuum head. Miscellaneous garden and yard tools, including a cart to pull behind the mower that they "borrowed" to move hay. So many other items, that let's just say it's no wonder they didn't let on they were moving. Guess we're lucky they didn't "borrow" a vehicle too.
*sigh* don't know whether to be angry or just sad about the whole thing. Costly mistake this time.

Geez, they practically robbed you blind, huh? Makes me think I should head on over to my neighbor's and get my blender she borrowed months ago!

Wow, that would be costly enough for me to want to find the people or report it. Are you so inclined? (Sometimes these things are better left to "Lessons Learned," depending on whether you wanna use emotional capital stirring up trouble.)
Sorry to hear it. Makes that "walk two miles" or "give him your cloak too" thing hit close to home, doesn't it?

I guess it just upsets me so much because we had really went out of our way to be good neighbors. Watched their kids whenever some emergency happend, took the boy fishing with us, fed their horses when they'd go on vacation... even lent the wife money once, to help her meet payroll when she opened a new shop. Never got that back either, now that I think about it! arrgh!
Just thought they would at last be decent enough to not just up and take stuff like that. No, we won't go to the police... not yet. I know where the husband just opened up a new shop a couple months ago... about 40 miles from here, so think I'll just stop there on my way home from the doctors appt. I have tomorrow. Oh, that reminds me... add a sump pump to the list, since the new shop flooded when a pipe broke and they needed to pump out the back area last month. ok, now I am getting angry.

Boy, you guys sure went above and beyond and that's what they do in return. It sounds to me like you're better off not having them as neighbors anymore. I'd like to see the look on their face when you stop by there!

I haven't been to his new shop yet... he was telling me about it a couple months ago, but I have a good enough idea where it is to find it. I had forgot about that when I made the first post, was thinking it was bye bye stuff without a clue... I'll find 'em now. Not like the towns around here are big.
If worse comes to worse I will call the police. The sump pump was a good investment we made for our hurricane shelter... to pump out any water that might get in there, because there's so much rain with them, we were worried about it possibly flooding. Thank goodness I bought Bill an engraver for his tools and we had practiced on that pump!! Because if I have to call the police, there'll be no doubt of who it belongs to.

Well I hope they don't give you any trouble. After all, it is yours, but some people are just greedy I guess. It's a shame, it really is, that people feel they can walk all over everyone else with such total disregard.

Or atlest Bill! {toothy}
I am sooo just kidding on that blincy!
I hope you get your stuff back! I know the feeling of being used and taken to granted far too well. It's not the money that bothers you, it's the broken trust you thought you had built up and the constant beating yourself over the head for not knowing sooner...
I'm sure everything will work out fine. You never know, maybe they honestly just forgot? Yeah I doubt it too...but don't run in with flames roaring.

Oh boy...this is my thread!! {fire}
An X friend of ours left us hanging, walked away with our Aluminum Ladder must be going around!
three or four VHS tape/movies,
electric typewriter
books
a full length leather coat
a Starter Olymic Down Coat
tons of clothes
a pair of Timberland workboots
one pair of leather dress boots
a hair dryer
a rake
shovel
etc..........Oh boy....I could go on and on.
I have all this written down....I was so upset about it....I had vowed to get it all back one day....now I don't really care...but I probably would never talk to them again.

Oh Karen, you must have been so angry! That's just outright stealing!! At least with us, we lent it out. Maybe we should start a "give them their stuff back" detective agency and track 'em down!!
Well, good news, sort of... I found the shop no problem, just stopped at a little convenience/gas/bait shop store and sure enough they pointed me down the road no problem. Yup Kezzer, the look of surprise was priceless! The pump was right there at the shop, so got that back this afternoon. Gross part is it stunk, so when I mentioned it, they told me they had lent it out to a friend of theirs to pump water out of his septic tank!! Can you believe the nerve? I about went balistic over that bit of news. I told them if the smell didn't come out of the hose, (about 30' canvas rubber lined thing) they'd have to replace it.
While I was at the doctors office I made up a list of stuff I wanted back and handed to the wife, who was also there. She's usually pretty decent... anyways they promised they'd round up everything and bring it back this week-end. I was mad and they knew it. I also "asked" for their new address, because I told them I'd hate to do it, but if they didn't bring the stuff back I'd have to contact the sherrif. So, on the way home I drove past the address they gave, to make sure it was legit and sure enough, their name was on the mailbox. We'll see what happens... (I also got the license plate off his truck, just in case, but they don't know that).
Keeping my fingers crossed!! :)

All right Blinc!! I wish I could have seen the looks! What nerve, septic tank water. yuk! I would have made them replace it just because. Some people! hmph!

Uh yeah, TTP and Austruck... don't think I'll be so easy-going anymore. You'd probably have to sign in blood to "borrow" anything from here anymore! {toothy}
Nah, seriously if someone needs something we'll lend it... can't judge everyone by them. But, next time before something else is lent, whatever was lent before has to come back. Sounds fair.

I can't believe that they borrowed it from you and lent it to someone else.
How could you possibly pack to move and also pack stuff that you had borrowed? Amazing.
blinc

Yeah, especially the ladder and the pull behind cart... they're not small items that accidentally get packed in a box you know? I added up the value *gulp* and I sure hope they bring the stuff back... cause it could be a felony charge if they don't. I don't know if I'd go that far, to press charges if it's going to be a felony, they do have kids... *sigh* I could kick myself for not asking for stuff back when they just kept borrowing more and more stuff. It's my fault too, for not keeping better track of just exactly how much stuff of ours was accumulating over there. Well, at least it's been a good lesson and there's always hope for this weekend.
Oh look a bulldozer! Is that ours? I'm not sure, I don't remember having that big of an expense...did you? I think it's the neighbors, throw it on the trailer...they won't mind. {rolleyes}
Sorry...

kezzer brought it over one night about a year and a half ago so we could make Khalua shakes and I asked her if I could use it the next day so she left it here and I forgot to return it. Although she forgot to take everytime she was here. So we are both airheads in the blender catagory.

Berta crawls out her back door and slowly crawls to kezzer's house(Berta knocks on kezzers door with her head hung low she tells kezzer) You will never believe what I found in my yarn tote. Does a pair of knitting needles and The complete idiots guide to knitting sound familiar? I'm not worthy of the good neighbor status anymore, please forgive me. :-o

Oh yeah, I kept meaning to ask you about those. I'll have to get those soon, so I can see if I can figure out how to knit some stuff for the baby. You're okay though, cuz I kept forgetting about them too.
