The Howard Dean Scream - Audio from Iowa

Has anyone heard Howard Dean's reaction to his 3rd place finish in the 2004 Iowa Caucus?

This is actual audio, not an edit. It's hilarious.

http://www.marriedadults.com/howarddeanscream.php

I heard it on a sports radio station today and just about drove off the road. It sounds more like a wrestling promo than a political speech. I kept expecting to hear him say, "SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY. At the Devils Bowl Speedway. It's Monster Truck Madness!!!!!!"

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/21/po...ns/21SPEE.html - It seems that the reaction, even among Dean supporters, was mixed.
Quote:
"He looked hysterical," Howard Wolfson, a Democratic consultant, said on "NBC Nightly News."

"Howard Dean scared a lot of children last night," Tucker Carlson, a Republican political commentator, declared on CNN. Like the other cable news networks, CNN played the image of Dr. Dean, his sleeves rolled up, neck bulging, pointing at the crowd, over and over.

Republican officials could not have been happier. "That's six ads," one party official said, referring playfully to the number of advertisements that might be mined from that appearance to reinforce efforts to portray Dr. Dean as angry and nonpresidential.

Dr. Dean made his address late on Monday before a room of supporters, declaring: "We're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico. We're going to California and Texas and New York!" After listing still more states and finally Washington, he punctuated the speech with a throaty howl.

Even some of Dr. Dean's supporters said the speech had affected their perception of the candidate.

Dan Goldberg, a marketing executive with a film distribution company in New York, said he had been planning to volunteer for Dr. Dean in New Hampshire. After watching the speech, Mr. Goldberg said, he changed his mind.

"Any chances I would vote for Dean were completely erased by that speech last night — scary," he said. "I thought mirrors in my apartment would shatter."
I wish I could find the video somewhere. I didn't see it.

I know, it's hilarious!!

I can't play the clip right now 'cause there's people sleeping in the other room... but I'll have to soon!

On the Daily Show they did edit the SUNDAY, SUNDAY SUNDAY!! thing into his speech.

Seriously tho.... I'm betting he had a stirring victory speech all ready to go and forgot that he might lose "Uh... what do I do now?"

I can't wait to see what Saturday Night Live does with this one. I wish Chris Farley was still around. His General Schwarzkopf is a classic.

Word is it's damaged him in the campaign. But he could bounce back.

Candidates are always chafing at the bit to avoid being boxed in. Sometimes it's helpful when they break outside the box. More often it's not.

I was looking forward between the preppie versus preppie debates if Dean was the nominee against Bush. If it's Kerry it'll be more like the studious student government guy versus the popular football team captain.

I do not know what the problem is with Dean's speech -

i finally found the audio - it was wonderful - it brings a smile to my face - it gets me going -
politics is to staid - you can be excited without using foul language as kerry did - why is this getting more press than that

politics used to be hootin and hollerin - for heaven's sake - aaron burr and alexander hamilton had a duel -

are they afraid that it might come out that Dean is a good ole southern boy - (i havent followed dean so i don't know) - but why shouldn't there be passion
IT WAS GREAT

First off, welcome to the forum

I do agree that it's great to have some passion in politics. Even so, it's hilarious Personally, the problem I have with it campaign-wise can be summed up it what Dean said the next day - that "I lead with my heart and not my head." Huh? Why do I want the next leader of the western world to make his decisions on a whim?

Of course, I wasn't planning on supporting Dean in the first place, before any of this happened.

I can guarantee you that if Bush had done it, he'd be getting blasted even worse.

Poll:Out of Control?

Do you think Dean's Iowa concession speech should be a campaign issue?

a. Yes, it wasn't presidential behavior. (72%)

b. No, he was rallying the troops. (25%)

c. I'm not sure. (3%)
Not a scientific poll, but interesting nevertheless.
