What are your favorite vBulletin hacks? Which ones do you think I should add to this site?

I've seen it on other boards. it looks pretty cool, but I don't know how much people use it.

The PM hack is usually installed by request of the users on highly trafficked boards...heck, SitePointForums.com is getting 100s of posts a day, but the need isn't there for them quite yet.

I highly recommend the Poll Hack - the next version is about to be released, so I'd hold off on installation until then. It's a fabulous hack and, let's face it, people are more likely to participate in a simple poll than they are a thread...it's just easier that way.

Other than that, I'd simply recommend moving the basic postbit icons to the top of the post rather than the bottom.

Jim,

Do you have a URL for a list of the vBulletin hacks?

Thanks

There is no list, the vBulletin Forums (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum) is where you want to look though...in the Code Hacks Forum.

vBulletin.org should have all the hacks listed at some point, but it does not yet.

How bout that postbit switch, James?

Chris!

At last we discuss something slightly different

Thanks! I'll have a look at the Vbulletin forums.

<<< newbie
all this talk about hacks makes me think everyone has diarrhea or something...

i agree that we probably ought to wait on the PM stuff... Tylenol that is... and the polls might be pretty good, even though from my experience they don't get nearly as much response as you'd think...

Question Speaking of hacks...

Are there any web sites dedicated to vBulletin hacks?

I used to use hacks on my UBB, but vBulletin has proved to be much better. I really need help with this.

Anyone?

Both of these sites are dedicated to vbulletin, including vbulletin hacks.

http://www.vbulletin.com
http://www.vbulletin.org (not the same site)

I like this "Quick Reply" hack that we installed. It is probably one of the most useful vBulletin hacks I've seen.

We found it in use on several vBulletin boards. The actual hack was downloaded from www.vbulletin.org.

Are there any other hacks (features) you have seen at other vbulletin boards that you would like to see here?
